\nA Dutiful Child is the Joy of its Parents.<\/em><\/p>\n
\nFor she is very kind ;
\nAnd every thing she says to me,
\nI must directly mind ;
\nFor when I was a baby,
\nAnd could not speak or walk,
\nShe let me in her bosom sleep,
\nAnd taught me how to talk.<\/p>\n
\nAnd when she likes to read,
\nOr has the headache, I will step
\nMost silently, indeed.
\nI will not choose a noisy play,
\nOr trifling troubles tell;
\nBut sit down quiet by her side,
\nAnd try to make her well.<\/p>\n
\nI have heard my father say,
\nWhen I was in my cradle sick,
\nShe tended me all day.
\nShe lays me in my little bed,
\nShe gives me clothes and food,
\nAnd I have nothing else to pay,
\nBut trying to be good.<\/p>\n
