A new service made possible by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ausmcgill.com\/\">AUS Undergraduate Improvement Fund<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>The dispenser contains 12 laptops, available for loan to current students, faculty and staff for a period of one day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Borrow a laptop today and it will be due by midnight of the next day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/hsslibrary\/files\/2019\/09\/laptop-kiosk.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1246 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/hsslibrary\/files\/2019\/09\/laptop-kiosk-225x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/hsslibrary\/files\/2019\/09\/laptop-kiosk-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/hsslibrary\/files\/2019\/09\/laptop-kiosk.png 756w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The kiosk&#8217;s HP laptops have the following software loaded:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Windows 10<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Adobe Acrobat Reader DC<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Adobe Digital Editions<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Google Chrome<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Mozilla Firefox<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Skype (the consumer version)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Zoom<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; padding-left: 30px;\">Microsoft Office\u00a0is not installed. Users just need to log into McGill&#8217;s Office 365 service to use Office apps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Check in or return a laptop directly back into the kiosk.<\/strong> Be sure to plug in the power cable, so the laptop will recharge for the next user. The kiosk will not loan a laptop until its battery is 90% charged or more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>We hope this new service is easy to use. Send us your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/library\/contact\/askus\/suggestionform\">comments<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>****************************************************************************************<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Laptop Kiosk terms of use (<em>the fine print<\/em>):<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Laptops borrowed from the kiosk are due the next day at midnight. <\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><strong>Overdue fines accrue at a rate of $0.02 per minute<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Laptops overdue longer than one day will be considered \u201clost\u201d and the borrower will be charged a replacement fee of $350 plus a processing fee of $50. <\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Broken equipment will also be subject to the same replacement and processing fees.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Charging cables are not included.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><em>Borrowers agree to abide by all relevant<\/em> <em>Library policies.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*****************************************************************************************<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A newly installed Laptop Kiosk is awaiting returning students this week in the McLennan-Redpath Library building lobby.
