Every year&nbsp;in Canada,&nbsp;the month of October is observed as a time to reflect and learn about LGBTQ+ history and culture.&nbsp;&nbsp;This year\u2019s Queer History Month theme is&nbsp;\u201cComing Together\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the 2021 Queer History Month, the Humanities and Social Sciences Library would like to showcase the diversity of Queer resources you have available to you for teaching, learning and research purposes both online (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/libraryguides.mcgill.ca\/redpathbookdisplay\/queerhistory\" target=\"_blank\">see online exhibit<\/a>)&nbsp;and&nbsp;in physical format.&nbsp;Visit the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/equity\/files\/equity\/qhm_clickable_calender_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Queer History Month Calendar<\/a>&nbsp;to learn more about the various programming during the month of October.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the care the Liaison Librarian for LGBTQ+ Studies,&nbsp;the McGill Library has been able to acquire access to valuable digital archives such as&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/libraryguides.mcgill.ca\/LGBTQ\/primarysources#s-lg-box-15638392\" target=\"_blank\">Archives of Human Sexuality and Gender<\/a>,&nbsp;Alexander Street Press\u2019&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/libraryguides.mcgill.ca\/LGBTQ\/primarysources#s-lg-box-12466016\" target=\"_blank\">LGBT Thought and Culture<\/a>, and&nbsp;Adam Matthew\u2019s&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/libraryguides.mcgill.ca\/LGBTQ\/primarysources#s-lg-box-12466016\" target=\"_blank\">Defining&nbsp;Gender<\/a>.&nbsp;These primary source digital archives provide you with access to historical newspapers and newspaper clippings,&nbsp;personal journals, photographs, magazines and more!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discover Queer McGill\u2019s History&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A small search for&nbsp;\u201cGay McGill\u201d, present day Queer McGill,&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<em>Archives of Human Sexuality&nbsp;and Gender&nbsp;<\/em>reveals&nbsp;numerous digitized documents that help us relive&nbsp;Queer McGill\u2019s history as one of the first and most influential LGBTQ+ organizations at McGill, in Qu\u00e9bec,&nbsp;and in Canada.&nbsp;Learn about the 1974&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/gay%20mcgill%20civil%20rights%20public%20forum\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Gay McGill Civil Rights Public Forum<\/em><\/a><em>,&nbsp;<\/em>an article published in&nbsp;The Gay Times.&nbsp;Rediscover&nbsp;the&nbsp;1979,&nbsp;1981&nbsp;and&nbsp;1988&nbsp;&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/go.gale.com\/ps\/i.do?st=Manuscripts&amp;searchResultsType=SingleTab&amp;qt=OQE~%E2%80%9CGay+McGill%E2%80%9D&amp;sw=w&amp;ty=bs&amp;it=search&amp;sid=bookmark-AHSI&amp;p=AHSI&amp;s=Relevance&amp;u=crepuq_mcgill&amp;v=2.1&amp;asid=7f04fde2\" target=\"_blank\">Gai(e)&nbsp;Danse&nbsp;posters<\/a>&nbsp;for the dances&nbsp;Queer McGill&nbsp;held on&nbsp;campus.&nbsp;Read what quite possibly&nbsp;might&nbsp;be the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/link-gale-com.proxy3.library.mcgill.ca\/apps\/doc\/TBOFFV362783472\/AHSI?u=crepuq_mcgill&amp;sid=bookmark-AHSI&amp;xid=ab093dd4\" target=\"_blank\">first mention of Queer McGill<\/a>&nbsp;(formally&nbsp;Gay McGill) in the&nbsp;July-August edition of&nbsp;Body Politic (Toronto, Ontario).&nbsp;If you find any other interesting historical things about McGill and its Queer&nbsp;Community, let us know in the comments!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scholarly Articles Databases&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these primary source treasure troves, you will also find important&nbsp;databases for scholarly publications,&nbsp;like the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/libraryguides.mcgill.ca\/LGBTQ\/articles#s-lg-box-15623736\" target=\"_blank\">Gender Watch and Gender Studies Database<\/a>. These two&nbsp;databases provide access to journals that published&nbsp;scholarly articles&nbsp;on gender and sexuality studies.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Physical Redpath Display&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we invite you to&nbsp;look&nbsp;at the physical display located in the main hallway of the Redpath Library Building. You\u2019ll see&nbsp;a selection of novels,&nbsp;encyclopedia,&nbsp;and essays on various aspects of Queer Studies. Note that this is only a small fraction of the available&nbsp;print resources we have at the Humanities and Social Sciences Library. If there is a specific title on display that you would like to borrow, please contact&nbsp;<em>hssl.library@mcgill.ca<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Living Queer Collection&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our libraries are for everyone and open to all.&nbsp;We like to extend this philosophy to our collection management practices.
