This invaluable collection of primary source materials now available in Open Access to researchers and the general public.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2669 size-full alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/islamicstudieslibrary\/files\/2018\/12\/Home.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"746\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/islamicstudieslibrary\/files\/2018\/12\/Home.png 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/islamicstudieslibrary\/files\/2018\/12\/Home-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/islamicstudieslibrary\/files\/2018\/12\/Home-768x373.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/islamicstudieslibrary\/files\/2018\/12\/Home-1024x497.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/islamicstudieslibrary\/files\/2018\/12\/Home-500x243.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px\" \/>The caricatures have been catalogued by the <a href=\"http:\/\/cedej-eg.org\/index.php\/bibliotheque\/?lang=en\">CEDEJ Library<\/a> allowing for the database to be searched by different fields:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>title of caricature<\/li>\n<li>date of publication<\/li>\n<li>title of newspaper where it was published<\/li>\n<li>topic (drop-down menu)<\/li>\n<li>author<\/li>\n<li>keyword.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Images are provided in JPEG, and can easily be downloaded and saved.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2670 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.mcgill.ca\/islamicstudieslibrary\/files\/2018\/12\/cedejcaricatures.bibalex.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"282\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the time of our visit the interface was only accessible in Arabic, but according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/cedej-eg.org\/index.php\/2018\/05\/29\/louverture-du-portail-www-cedejcaricatures-bibalex-org\/\">official announcement<\/a> made by CEDEJ, the implemention of the English and French interfaces is scheduled for Octobre 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In May 2018, the French Centre for Economic, Legal, and Social Study and Documentation (CEDEJ) based in Cairo, Egypt, launched in association with Bibliotheca Alexandrina a new portal to host its rich collection of Egyptian caricatures.
