Morgan Library & Museum<\/a>, located in New Your City, is a museum and an independent research library and is famous for its manuscripts\u2019 collections which mainly consists of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, yet Morgan Library and Museum houses various important Islamic manuscripts as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An online exhibition, \u201cTreasures of Islamic Manuscript Painting from the Morgan\u201d show cases some of these manuscripts containing exceptional paintings as well as religious and secular documents. These manuscripts range from the one that highlight works of \u201cscience, biography, history, and poetry\u201d to Qur\u2019an manuscripts. This exhibition provides access to a rich and diverse collection of Islamic manuscripts dating from the late Middle Ages to the nineteenth century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIncluded are such important manuscripts as the Man\u0101fi\u02d3-i hayav\u0101n (The Benefits of Animals)\u2014one of the finest surviving Persian examples\u2014and the richest illustrated life of the beloved poet R\u016bm\u012b (1207\u20131273). Also featured are pages from the Mughal and Persian albums that Pierpont Morgan acquired in 1911 from Sir Charles Hercules Read, Keeper of British and Medieval Antiquities at the British Museum, and miniatures illustrating the work of great Persian poets.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n

“The First Sura of the Jerr\u0101\u1e25 Pasha Qur\u02d2an<\/em>…… This is the second pair of richly decorated facing pages in the Jerr\u0101\u1e25 Pasha Qur\u02d2an, made in Shiraz about 1580. It marks the beginning of the Qur\u02d2an itself, starting with sura 1 (al-F\u0101ti\u1e25a, or “The Opening Chapter”). The five lines of text on each page are enclosed within a gold-lobed medallion<\/em>….”<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Manuscripts are digitized with high resolution which makes it easy to look at various details and vivid colors in paintings. Each page or painting comes with a more detailed information about its time of creation as well of a description about its content.<\/p>\n\n\n
