It is something rather hard to believe, but it is happening now with the Thomas Piketty book <em>Le Capital au XXIe si\u00e8cle<\/em>. Published in French in 2013, and in English translation, <em>Capital in the Twenty-First Century,<\/em> in 2014, it had the first printings sold out almost immediately. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2014\/jun\/17\/thomas-piketty-lse-capitalism-talk\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Guardian<\/em> <\/a>is writing about Piketty-mania and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2014\/apr\/28\/thomas-piketty-capital-surprise-bestseller\" target=\"_blank\">reviews <\/a>it for the readers who are not sure they can get through all 800 pages of economic wisdom; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/business\/thomas-piketty-economics-how-the-trendy-frenchman-could-influence-ontario-election-1.2630186\" target=\"_blank\">CBC <\/a>sees its influence in the Ontario provincial elections; the <em>Economist<\/em>, <em>Washington Post<\/em>, <em>New York Times,<\/em> and many others publish articles and opinion pieces about Piketty and his theory&#8230; This list can be endless. Just take a look at the footnotes to French and English versions of this Wikipedia <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Capital_in_the_Twenty-First_Century\" target=\"_blank\">article <\/a>&#8211; it will give you an understanding of the scope of the hype&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I hope that I have your attention now. We have just got a copy of the French edition of <a href=\"http:\/\/catalogue.mcgill.ca\/F\/?func=find-b&amp;find_code=SYS&amp;local_base=catalogue&amp;request=004039428\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Le Capital au XXIe si\u00e8cle<\/em><\/a> at the Law Library and an English edition is expected shortly.
