Located in\u00a0France behind the front lines, the hospital was established by McGill\u2019s Faculty of\u00a0Medicine and staffed by faculty members and students, with nurses trained at the Montreal\u00a0General and Royal Victoria hospitals. The hospital served in the field from 1915\u00a0to 1919. Please join us on February 25th at 5 pm, when distinguished Canadian military\u00a0historian and Hiram Mills Professor of History Dr. Desmond Morton will speak on the\u00a0role of McGill medicine in the First World War.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Vernissage &amp; special talk: February 25, 5-7 pm. Dr. Morton&#8217;s talk will begin at 5:30pm and will be followed by a Q&amp;A.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This talk titled &#8220;Healing in Hell: McGill Medicine and the First World War&#8221; will be part of the vernissage of two library exhibitions: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/library\/channels\/event\/exhibition-we-will-remember-them-no-3-canadian-general-hospital-mcgill-first-world-war-1915-1919-241436\">\u201cWe Will Remember\u00a0Them: The No. 3 Canadian General Hospital (McGill) in The First World War 1915-1919\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/library\/channels\/event\/exhibition-lighthalls-mcgill-family-war-241437\">\u201cThe Lighthalls: A McGill Family at War\u201d<\/a> (on view to June 15th).
