Akismet

The McGill Library Blogs service uses the Akismet service to filter out spam comments posted to our blogs.

Akismet is a service provided by Automattic Inc., a San Francisco-based company with servers located in the US, where data use is governed by the terms provided in Automattic’s privacy policy and terms of service.

When a comment is submitted to one of our blogs, all comment information, including the comment text as well as the name, email address, and IP address of the comment author is sent to the Akismet service. Also sent is some technical information to identify the kind of browser and computer device used to post the comment.

If you are not comfortable with your data being submitted to the Akismet service, simply refrain from posting comments to any of the McGill Library Blogs sites. Feedback can always be sent via email to any addresses provided by the blog author. You can also send feedback to us at web.library@mcgill.ca, and if you include the name of the blog, we’ll make sure it gets to the right person.
