The Arabic Manuscripts Digital Library of Jerusalem

Developed within the framework of project Manumed, financed by the European Union and the region Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur, “The Arabic Manuscripts Digital Library of Jerusalem” aims to promote the written heritage of East Jerusalem and to make this heritage accessible to all with the sole caveat of an internet connection. It relies on the latest technology to provide access which is simple, multimedia and multilingual.

Indonesia Journal now online!

Indonesia Journal, is a semi-annual journal devoted to the timely study of Indonesia’s culture, history, government, economy, and society. It features original scholarly articles, interviews, translations, and book reviews. Published since April 1966, the journal provides area scholars and interested readers with contemporary analysis of Indonesia and an extensive archive of research pertaining to the nation and region.

Published by Cornell University’s Southeast Asia Program, this journal is accessible online from its last issue (# 93, April 2012).

BBC Monitoring Library

McGill Library is currently trialling BBC Monitoring Library, which is a fully searchable digital current affairs resource from the BBC. Its news coverage reports from radio, television, news agencies, press and the Web, providing a distinctive international news and information service from open sources. BBC Monitoring reports news from state owned, independent and clandestine media sources in over 150 countries, in more than 100 languages. News is translated in to English without additional analysis or editorial comment to ensure impartiality.

The manuscripts of the Aga Khan Museum

The Aga Khan Museum, which is under construction in Toronto, Canada,  includes an important manuscript collection (over 70 manuscripts) and several hundred folios with miniature paintings.
The manuscripts (Qur’an, religious commentary,  books of science, philosophy , and literature (including some famous Shahnameh) have been scanned (digitized) and are now avalaible on this website.

Another Manuscript has been digitized and made available via our digitization programme. This mss is Osler MSS 10-حل مشكلة الاشارات و التنبيهات بقلم طوسي

This manuscript coincides with the other digital projects the ISL has undertaken. These projects include the Shahnameh, Islamic Calligraphy, the Ibrahim Muteferrika incunabula collection and a forthcoming Ghazali digital collection based on the Ghazali exhibition in the main foyer of the McLennan library.

Islamic Studies Subject Guide

Hi friends:

I’ve recently updated both the Islamic Studies and Middle East subject guides with new information and resources. The Islamic Studies guide now includes General sourcebooks and introductions source list for quick consultation.

Also, we have recently acquired Oxford Bibliographies Online Islamic Studies which will soon be available via McGill’s catalogue.
