Upcoming workshops and events at HSSL – September 2017

Here is a list of the library workshops being offered this month at the Humanities and Social Sciences Library (HSSL):

Tue, Sep 05: Getting Started at HSSL (workshop)

Thu, Sep 07: Guided tour of HSSL in Arabic

Fri, Sep 08: Guided tours of HSSL in English, French, and Spanish
 
Thu, Sep 14: Endnote Essentials (workshop)

Also, note that while the popular Keys to Success (undergrad) and MyResearch (grad) workshops won’t be happening until October, space is limited so you may want to head over to register today!

Changes to service hours at HSSL coming September 5th

In order to better serve our community, the Humanities and Social Sciences Library will implement new service hours starting on Tuesday, September 5th:

• Borrowing services (circulation) and the self-serve reserves room will be open at 8am, Monday to Friday.

• Interlibrary Loan pickup and course reserves will be accessible at this time. As a result of this change, course reserves taken out at the end of the day will be due at 9 am the next morning instead of 11 am.

• Weekend reference services will be available on Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm instead of Saturdays.

Le Québec fête sa fierté LGBTQ+ et nous aussi ! #FiertéBiblio

L’août marque le mois des fiertés québécoises qui se déroule dans trois de nos villes du Québec :

Montréal : Fierté Montréal – jeudi 10 août au dimanche 20 août
Sherbrooke : Fière la fête – jeudi 24 août au samedi 26 août
Québec : Fête arc-en-ciel de Québec – jeudi 31 août au dimanche 3 septembre

En plus d’aller fêter notre fierté partout au Québec, le saviez-vous que la Bibliothèque des sciences humaines et sociales de l’Université McGill contient des ressources LGBTQ+ en masse ?

Voici quelques ressources vedettes pour commencer vos aventures dans les ressources LGBTQ+ fournies par votre bibliothèque préférée :

Guide de recherche en études LGBTQ+ : Selection de ressources LGBTQ+ disponibles à la Bibliothèque de l’Université McGill.
Kanopy Video – LGBT & LGBT Studies in Video des centaines de vidéos (documentaires et films) LGBTQ+ disponible en flux (streaming) ! C’est une sorte de Netflix LGBTQ+ ou OutTVGo éducatif !
Archives of Human Sexuality and Identity. LGBTQ history and culture since 1940 – cette ressource est riche de sources primaires datant de 1940. On trouvera notamment des ressources sur « Act Up Montréal », la descente policière au « party Sex Garage » (souvent considéré le « Stonewall » de Montréal) et même des articles sur les fameux bingos de notre chère Mado Lamotte !

#FiertéLecture tout le mois d’août à la biblio (Pavillon Redpath de la bibliothèque)

Pendant le mois d’août, nous vous invitons également de venir consulter et emprunter des livres de notre exposition vivante Fierté Lecture | Pride Reading dans le pavillon Redpath de la Bibliothèque des sciences humaines et sociales à droit de l’exposition Summer Reading.

Au fur à mesure le mois d’août, je remplacerai les titres empruntés avec d’autres titres LGBTQ+ . Je vous ai également fait une liste WorldCat avec une sélection de livres physiques, livres numériques, bases de données et films LGBTQ+ que vous pouvez également consulter et emprunter.
